WHEN TO GO
Seychelles islands lie outside the cyclone belt, so severe storms are rare. The Seychelles weather is quite unpredictable from day to day. It can change abruptly. One moment it could be sunny, and the next it's raining. My favorite months of the year are April/May and late September/October- mid November – but Seychelles weather has a mind of its own. There really is no month without some rain in Seychelles (even if it is just a brief shower). North west monsoon (November - March : rainier season) and South East trades ( May - September: drier season.) The temperature is usually is around 80-85 degrees F.

Different times of the year may be better suited to particular interests.

Activity Period
Bird watching April (breeding season), May-Sept Terns) October (migration)
Diving March-May /September-November
Fishing October-April
Hiking/Walks and Trails May-September
Sailing May-September
Snorkeling All year round

Two opposite winds generally govern the weather pattern: the north-westerly blow from October to March when wind speeds average 8 to 12 knots, and the brisker south easterly blow from May to September with winds between 10 to 20 knots, bringing the cooler and windier conditions. The peak travel season is mid December to January, yet mid December-February tend to be the wettest months. The weather patterns are changing and it is getting harder to predict the weather with certainty. For example, December, January and February 2010 were drier than normal . If it happens to rain, it is still warm – and a good time to swim, fish or walk.

The SUBIOS Underwater Festival, showcases extraordinary underwater world series of film shows, talks and competitions is held once a year, while the Festival Kreol (a week long celebration of Creole heritage and traditions) is held last week of October.

The Seychelles Sailing Cup, and international sailing event, is held in January and the International Fishing competition in March. Further local fishing competitions are held throughout the year.
